Mzukisi Qobo is senior lecturer in International Political Economy at the University of Pretoria. He has previously served as deputy director at GovInn as well as chief director at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) where he was responsible for developing South Africa’s trade policy. Mzukisi has in the past fulfilled a role as head of Emerging Powers and Global Challenge at the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA). His main research interests are in the areas of emerging powers, global leadership, and Africa’s developmental futures.

Mzukisi is co-author of the recently published book: “The Fall of the ANC: What Next?” He is a columnist for the Business Day newspaper.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), an MA from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa); and a BA from the University of Cape Town (South Africa).
